Programs
Coding Club
Creek View School will be offering an after school coding program, Code Club, for students. Students will be learning about computer science, the field in which people use the power of computers to solve big problems. Computer science opens more doors for students than any other discipline in today’s world. Learning even the basics will help students in virtually any career—from architecture to zoology. Just as we teach students how to dissect a frog, or how electricity works, it’s important for every 21st century student to have a chance to design an app or an algorithm and learn how the Internet works. It is projected that there will be more than 1 million unfilled jobs that require computer science in the next 10 years. Computer science enables students to think logically and problem solve. Students who are exposed to computer science perform better in math and are able to solve complex problems with ease. Computer science also teaches students determination.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
-
Initial Concern: If a teacher notices a student struggling, they begin documenting progress on the MTSS Tier I Information Sheet.
-
Parent Notification: The teacher will inform parents/guardians about the concerns and planned support.
-
Collaborative Planning: The teacher consults with other educators and, if needed, previous teachers to choose appropriate strategies and interventions.
-
Implementation: Support is provided, and progress is monitored over four to six weeks.
-
Ongoing Updates: Parents/guardians will receive updates on their child’s progress and any adjustments made.
-
Further Support: If progress is insufficient, a request for additional support (Tier 2) will be made, which will involve a review with the MTSS Coordinator.
-
Request for Meeting: If additional support is needed, the teacher will request a Tier 2 MTSS Meeting and invite parents/guardians in advance. Some supports may require your signature before they start.
-
Data Review: The teacher will share data collected over the past 4-6 weeks with the MTSS Team.
-
Goal Setting: The team will create specific goals based on your child's needs.
-
Support Implementation: Appropriate Tier 2 supports (such as interventions, accommodations, or modifications) will be implemented for four to six weeks.
-
Ongoing Monitoring: The teacher will continue to track progress and adjust support as needed.
-
Review Meetings: The MTSS Team may meet periodically to review progress and make necessary adjustments.
-
Further Steps: If progress is not sufficient, the team may refer your child to the Tier 3 Specialist Support Team. All Tier 2 data will be sent to the Tier 3 team before scheduling their meeting.
-
Parent Attendance: Parent attendance and involvement is required at this stage.
-
Review Process: The Tier 3 Specialist Support Team will review your child’s data to determine the next steps.
-
Discussion: The team will discuss supports, interventions, data results, and whether a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment is needed.
-
Parent Request Meeting: If you request an assessment or additional assistance, a “Parent Request Meeting” will be scheduled within 15 days. This meeting will include you, the school administration, the teacher, and the school psychologist or special education teacher.
